Mildred Quinby


 EARLVILLE – Mildred S. Quinby, 89, formerly of Earlville, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born June 24, 1919 in Shenandoah, Pa., a daughter of George and Helen (Krasuski) Shaulas and was a graduate of Earlville High School. On September 25, 1940, Mildred was united in marriage to Edwin John Quinby in Sherburne. Their union lasted 68 years until he predeceased her on Oct. 26, 2008. Mrs. Quinby was a homemaker, and had also worked part-time for the Amos Beecher Furniture Store in Earlville, the Alice Blue Gown Shop in Earlville, and Vantine Studios in Hamilton. She had been an active volunteer for the Community Chest; a member of the Republican Party for 30 years; a member of the Mother’s Club, the 20th Century Club, the Sherburne Art Society and the Chenango Water Exercise Group. She was an artistic person who enjoyed painting, crocheting and knitting. She also loved reading and music.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Franklyn Carney of Norwich; Joy and Danny Despins of Tucson, Ariz.; her grandchildren Holly and Kenneth Keeler of New Fairfield, Conn.; Kelly Walker of North Miami Beach, Fla.; Diane and John Mitchell of Topton, N.C.; Jack and Liz Feitsma of Clermont, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Stacey, Sally, John, Danielle and Peter; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Karen Goeltz, predeceased her on May 4, 2005.
In keeping with Mildred’s wishes, services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, NY.
