Jeannette Thompson


NORWICH – Jeannette L. Thompson, 80, of Chenango Avenue, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Born Dec. 5, 1927 in New Bedford, Mass., Jeannette was the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Vera) Ladner. Moving to Norwich in 1945, she worked at Montgomery Ward where she was head cashier. She then worked for Dr. Richard Foster until her retirement.
Jeannette enjoyed bowling and golf during her spare time. She and her loving companion, Walter “Neep” Tracy, spent winters together in Florida. She will be remembered for her fine cooking skills.
Jeannette was married for many years to William “Harry” Thompson, who predeceased her. In addition to Neep Tracy of Norwich, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Lisa and David Acenowr of Norwich, Jeffery Thompson of Norwich and Laurie Ann and Scott Hughes of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Miranda and Cecil Barrows, Brandon, Nelsen and Alex Aitken, Matthew, Kyle and Cohley Acenowr and Sarah, Angela and Cameron Thompson; two great grandchildren; her sister, Marjorie Thompson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lorinda Aitken and a brother, Ralph “Bud” Ladner.
Funeral services for Jeannette will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
