Joan Hance


HUBBARDSVILLE – Joan Peptis Hance, 74, of Abbert Road, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville.
She was born Oct. 17, 1933 in Columbus, a daughter of John and Anna (Whitekus) Peptis and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. In November 1952, Joan married Everett B. Hance in East Hamilton. He predeceased her on Feb. 1, 1984. Joan was a resident of the Sherburne and Hubbardsville areas her entire life. She had been a cook at The Annex in Hamilton for over 18 years. She was a nature lover who enjoyed walking in the woods. She was also fond of animals and loved flowers.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Everett P. and LouAnn Hance, and Edwin L. Hance, all of Hubbardsville; two daughters, Amber Chase of Norwich and Holly Macri of Rome; a sister, Eleanor Ferris of Sherburne; four grandchildren, Ben Hance, Bradley Chase, Christopher and Cecilia Macri; and several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne followed by interment in St. Malachy’s Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. today prior to the service.
