OXFORD – Mrs. Bernice “Bernie” Koenig, 84, of 1530 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, N.C. died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
A native of Oriskany Falls, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel Rice. She retired from the Town House Motel in Shelby, where she was manager.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Rice; and a sister, Viola Wilcox.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley Koenig; three sons: Daniel Koenig of Kings Mountain, N.C., Carl Koenig and wife, Patricia, of Oxford, and Richard Koenig and wife, Karen, of Cherryville, N.C.; a sister, Ella Mae of Madison; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Carolina Care, Crawley Memorial Hospital and Hospice and Palliative Care for the kindness and care they provided Mrs. Koenig and her family.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Cleveland Memorial Park.
