Kevin Dann


SHERBURNE – Kevin Michael Dann, 41, of Sherburne unexpectedly crossed over to God’s side on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 as the result of a heart attack.
He was born Feb. 23, 1967 in Hamilton, a son of James E. and Penelope J. (Smith) Dann. Following his graduation from Sherburne-Earlville High School in 1985, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed in Gloucester, Mass. for four years. Most recently, Kevin was a cargo specialist for C.R. England of Salt Lake City, Utah. A lifelong Sherburne resident, he loved his family and his extended family, trucking, hunting, all kinds of music and Hunt’s Mountain.
Kevin was a member of the United Church of Christ and the F&AM Lodge #444 of Sherburne.
Surviving are his parents, James and Penelope Dann of Sherburne; maternal grandmother, Martha A. (Hall) Dann of Sidney; two sisters, Shari L. Dann and Ken Vrana and their children, Eva and Antonia Vrana of St. Johns, Mich.; Karinda L. and John Trowbridge and their children Elizabeth and Benjamin Trowbridge of Honeoye; his children, Specialist James S. Dann, U.S. Army, Fairbanks, Alaska deployed; Jesse James Dann and Alexis Marina Dann, both of Sherburne; stepdaughter, Miranda Bigford of Earlville; step-grandson, Noah Bigford of Earlville; their mothers, Jacqueline (Amaral) Dann Marotta of Wolfboro, N.H. and Tracy (Wyman) Bigford Dann of Earlville. Also surviving are his long time companion and best friend, Becky Izzie of Sherburne and her children, Jeremiah Izzie, Nicci Izzie and fiancé Jason Gould, Heather Izzie and fiancé Anthony Dodge; his beloved beagle “trucker buddy,” Freckles; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Kevin was predeceased by an infant sister, Deborah Joan Dann; his maternal grandparents, George T. and Marguerite E. Smith; and his paternal grandfather, Elmer J. Dann.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday from the United Church of Christ, Sherburne.
Interment with military honors will be in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., on Friday from 7-9 p.m.
A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
