Mabel Foote


OXFORD – Mabel “Pickie” Foote, 88, of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford. 
She was born on Aug. 26, 1920 in Smithville, the daughter of the late Leeman and Ruth (Ingraham) Cady. On Aug. 12, 1937 she married Frederick Foote, who died on May 4, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Alietta and David Wright of Greene; her sisters and brothers in law, Lora and Derwin Jones of Phoenix, N.Y., Doris Potter of Oxford, Chuck Ross of Oxford and Mabel Cady of Phoenix, Ariz.; her granddaughter and husband, Lou Ann and George Day of Greene; and her great grandchildren, Michelle, Monica and Brian Day.  She was predeceased by her sisters and brother, Marie Ross, Beatrice Howe, Lawrence Cady, Raymond Cady and LJ (Q) Cady.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pickie was a member of the United Church of Oxford. She and her husband operated a farm for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and games of marbles.  She and her family enjoyed many good times at Old Forge. She was known for ability to hang wallpaper. She had attended the Taste & See Soup Kitchen in Oxford for several years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Oxford.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department Emergency Squad or the United Church of Oxford.
