Sarah Lamariana


NORWICH – Sarah LaMariana, 78, of Norwich, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 in Chenango Memorial Hospital.  
Born on May 25, 1930 in Motherwell, Scotland, she was the daughter of William and Agnes (Core) Bohm. Sarah, known to everyone as Sally, came to the United States in 1948 aboard the Queen Mary. She later became a naturalized U.S. citizen. She was married on Dec.23, 1950 to the late Louis LaMariana Sr. in Bellmore. They began raising their family in Lindenhurst. In 1978 the family relocated to Preston after building their own home.
Sally enjoyed gardening, reading, and especially gambling. After the passing of her husband Louis, and her son Louis Jr., she enrolled in the RSVP program with Opportunities for Chenango, which matches seniors with companions. Through this program, Sally was introduced to Evelyn Calvello of Pitcher, and the two became fast, inseparable friends. 
Sally is survived by her daughter Nancy Salem and her husband Joe of Norwich; Her son Michael LaMariana and his wife Robin of Norwich; her son Matt LaMariana of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and her daughter in law Rachele Goldman of Stanley. Sally is also survived by her granddaughter Amanda Nichols and her husband Gordon of Norwich, two great grandchildren, Caleb and Jacob Nichols, and a sister Joan McArdle of Kearny, N.J.
At Sally’s request there will be a private service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the RSVP program at Opportunities for Chenango Inc.
