Harold Thompson


OXFORD – Harold N. (Hal) Thompson of Oxford passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sept. 15, 2008. 
 He is survived by his wife and best friend, Terry.  He was the proud father of four wonderful children and the proud and doting grandfather of seven beautiful grandchildren.  Hal is survived by his son Tracy Thompson and his wife Deb and children, Matthew and Allyson of Whitesboro, his daughter Kim Thompson and children Daniel and Andrew of Norwich, son Mark Thompson and his wife Isabel and children, Paisley, Michal and Christopher of Tucson, Ariz., and his daughter Lindsy Thompson-Bissonnette and her husband Aaron of West End, N.C.  Hal is also survived by his two brothers, who were his best buds, and their wives, Wayne and Sandra Thompson of Holland Patent, NY and Cecil and Susan Thompson of Concord Twp, Ohio.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Hal served proudly in the U.S. Army and was a medic in Korea during the Korean War.  On his return home he went to work for the Norwich Pharmacal Co. and after 36 years, retired from Procter and Gamble.
He was an avid fan of Formula One and Indy Car racing.  Cars in general were his love.  He was also a great fan of sports, especially Mets baseball, the Buffalo Bills and college football and basketball.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Joseph’s RC Church, Oxford.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Friday from 6-8 p.m. In remembrance of Hal, those that wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank Doctors, Bermejo, Bravin, Howarth and the staff of Bassett Hospital, especially medical resident Shyama of Bassett Hospital, and Dr. Keo of Bassett Healthcare in Unadilla.
From his family – Rest peacefully, you are our hero and will be greatly missed.
