NORWICH – Anna Mueller, 94, a Norwich resident for over 20 years, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, in the Gilmour Health Care Facility where she had lived in recent months.
The daughter of Paul and Theresa (Unger) Scheck. Anna was born in Austria in November of 1913 and spent her early years there. She moved to the United States in the mid-1930s and settled in Ridgewood, N.J. In Paterson, on June 29, 1941, Anna married Alfons Mueller. The couple lived for over 40 years in Haledon, N.J., where Anna raised her family and earned the reputation of being an excellent cook and baker. Her wonderful cakes were especially sought after by the priests at Anna’s church and being a devout Catholic, she added them to her list of family and extended family who received her periodic “care packages.” When Anna’s husband became ill, she devoted herself to his care until his passing. In 1981, Anna moved to the Norwich area to be closer to her daughter and her family.
Anna is survived by her daughter and son, Marilyn DeBlock of Norwich and Raymond Mueller and wife Elizabeth of Schertz, Texas; by grandchildren Michael, and Lindsay DeBlock and John and Jody Mueller; by great grandson Jensyn Mueller; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband in January of 1976, her four brothers, and her infant sister.
A memorial Mass celebrating Anna’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from St. Bartholomew’s Church. The Rev. Douglas Cunningham will officiate. Interment will be on Friday in the Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes, N.J. There will be no calling hours.
