Robert Wood


NORWICH – Robert F. Wood, 73, of Norwich, formerly of Paterson, N.J. and Cocoa, Fla. passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. 
He was born on Nov. 24, 1934 in Paterson, N.J,. a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Mason) Wood.  On Sept. 19, 1954 he married Katherine Mary Margaret Wood, who passed away on Feb. 18, 2005.
He is survived by his children, Robert J. and Darlena Wood of Wallington, N.J., Kathleen Morabito of Cocoa, Fla., Sean and Ella Wood of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Donna Bernstein of Norwich, Alison and James Caratozzolo of West Paterson, N.J.; 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Marilyn Morse, Betty Hill, Randy Wood, Roger Wood, Ronald Wood, Geraldine Roth, and Joan Mulbalk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Peggy Ann Massoud.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.  He worked for Kesler Trucking in Paterson, N.J. for many years and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He lived in Cocoa, Fla. for 18 years prior to moving to Norwich.  He was and avid NASCAR fan. While in Norwich he attended the United Church of Christ, First Congregational. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ, First Congregational, West Main St., Norwich with pastor, Rev. Joseph Connelly officiating.  Following the service a time of remembrance will be held at his daughter Donna’s home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
