Peggy Sue Bevilacqua

NORWICH – Peggy Sue Bryant Bevilacqua, 43, of Royal Ave., Norwich, passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Hamilton in April of 1965, the daughter of David and Rosemary Bryant, Peggy Sue grew up in North Norwich and was a 1983 graduate of the Sherburne-Earlville High School. She worked for a time for the Norwich Shoe Factory and the Victory Recycling Plant, then took nurse’s aide training through Home Care in Earlville and was a caregiver for Sarah Towers. Her last employment, which she thoroughly enjoyed, was her eight years with DCMO BOCES, where she worked in the special education section and was as much a counselor and friend to the children as she was an educator. She loved to go camping with her family, and was a fan of the karaoke, especially when teaching the chicken dance and the cha-cha slide to the girls. For numerous years she had enjoyed bowling, and had belonged to women’s leagues in both Norwich and Earlville.
In October of 2007, Peggy Sue married Martin Bevilacqua, who survives. She is also survived by her son and daughter, Brandon and Ashley Thomas and her step-daughters, Heather and Tiffany Bevilacqua, all of Norwich; and her parents, David and Rosemary Bryant; brothers Joseph and Percy Bryant, and grandmother, Edith Ray, all of North Norwich. She is survived by her biological family, with whom she was close and enjoyed dearly; her mother, Barbra Wilson of Sherburne; sisters and brothers-in-law: Paris and Jeff Price, Melinda and Joe Backo, and Bridget and Bill Marshall, all of Sherburne; and her brother, Brian Manwarren of Cortland. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a million friends survive, as do her mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Arlene Bevilacqua of South New Berlin; brothers-in-law and their spouses: James Bevilacqua of Scotia, Andy and Teresa Bevilacqua of Norwich, and Todd Bevilacqua of South New Berlin; and sisters-in-law and their spouses: Lisa and Dennis Campbell, Chris Manwarren, and Renee and Mike Orlando, all of Norwich.
Funeral services for Peggy Sue will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford of Norwich will officiate, with interment to follow in the North Norwich Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Peggy Sue’s family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790; or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
