Marjorie Cady

NORWICH – Marjorie Cady, 88, a 60-plus year resident of the Oxford area, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 in the Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin, Va., where she had resided in recent months.
Born in Plainview, Nebraska, in May of 1920, Marjorie was the daughter of James and Susan (Aikens) Walker. She moved to the Oxford area with her family when she was just three months old, later attending the local schools. On Aug. 26, 1944, in South New Berlin, Marjorie married Lawrence “Skip” Cady, and they continued to make their home in Oxford until the late 70s when they relocated to Virginia to be close to their family. Skip contracted MS at a young age and Marjorie, with style, grace, and always a smile, devoted herself to caring for him until he passed away on March 2, 1980. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Mary Keegans and Nora Auwater.
Marjorie is survived by her son and daughter: James L. Cady of Shawsville, Va., and Barbara Collard Adams and her husband James Fielden of Athens, Texas. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. Committal will follow in Riverview Cemetery of Oxford, with Barb Hilts, a family friend and long-time neighbor, offering prayers and reflections of Marjorie’s life.
Please consider memorial contributions to Multiple Sclerosis Resources of CNY, Inc., PO Box 237, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
