NEW BERLIN – Sharon “Penny” Brownell, 62, of New Berlin, passed away on July 20, 2008, in Norwich.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1945 in New Berlin, the daughter of Max and Alice (Mathewson) Brownell. She spent her childhood in the New Berlin area and attended the New Berlin Central School. She was the manager of the New Berlin Busy Bee and owner of Penny’s Place Diner of New Berlin.
Penny is survived by her companion, Wayne Herin.
She is also survived by several nieces & nephews: Wayne, Dale, Connie, Donna, Terri, Bonnie, Stacey, Skip, Joan, Lorraine, Steve, Tom, Butch, Mary, Diane and Gary; two sisters: Mildred Card of Castorland, and Beatrice Crowell – Villa Ricka, Ga.; two sisters-in-law: Bernice & Phyllis Brownell.
She was predeceased by three brothers: “Red” Clarence Brownell, Alfred Brownell and Max Brownell Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with Pastor Jeff McLallen officiating.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to MIB Hospital, 1 Atwell Rd, Cooperstown.
