Lenore Burrell


NORWICH – Lenore Viola Burrell, 95, of North Delaware Square, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2008, surrounded by her family at her home in Norwich.
Born July 21, 1912 in Masonville, Lenore was the daughter of John W. and Carrie Mae (Murwin) Flummer. She was a 1930 graduate of Bainbridge High School and worked for nine years at the Welwood Ribbon Mill before joining the workforce at the Norwich Knitting Mill. Lenore worked at the mill from 1942 until her retirement as an inspector in 1963.
Lenore enjoyed dancing and bowling during her leisure time.
On Nov. 1, 1963, Lenore married Douglas V. Burrell, who predeceased her on July 20, 1996. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Douglas S. and Janet Burrell of Florida, Wayne A. and Connie Burrell of Oxford, Ronald S. and Elzada Burrell of Norwich, Pamela V. and Garry Steward, of Norwich, Lynne D. and Dean Cloyd of Norwich, Robert C. Burrell of Oxford, David A. and Kim Burrell of Norwich and JoAnn A. and Gregory Ross of Oxford. Lenore is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Earl H. and George R. Flummer and four sisters, Jennie Alley, Myrtle Wilson, Pauline Kenyon and Inez Delello.
Funeral services for Lenore will be held at noon on Tuesday at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
