Fred Lanfair


NEW BERLIN – Fred A. Lanfair, 67, of the Town of New Berlin, passed away Aug. 6, 2006 at home.
Fred was born on Aug. 17, 1938 in Holmesville, NY, a son of Lynn and Marietta (Silvey) Lanfair. On Sept. 3, 1988, he married Ruth A. Cassidy who predeceased him on Nov. 13, 2005.
Fred grew up in Gilbertsville/Mt. Upton area. He is best known for working for the Briggs, Lloyds and Webbs Lumber Companies. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his pet dog George, putting together model cars and awaiting the arrival of a great-granddaughter due this month.
He is survived by his children, Cathy Thompson and husband, Patrick, of Norwich, Fred Lanfair of Norwich, William Lanfair and wife, Ann, of Oxford, Jennifer Lanfair and companion, Jason Roe, of Hubbardsville, Jonathan Brazee and wife, Lynne, of Norwich, Susan Stratton of Oneonta, Charles Stringham and wife, Holly, of Va. and William Stringham of Tenn.; gradnchildren, Christopher, Danielle, Joshua, Calahan, Arynn, Ashley, Brandon, Jeremiah, Kaylin, Jonah, Corrie, NIchole, Thomas, Kyle and Chad; great-grandchildren, Shannon, Aleczander and Anissa; his mother, Marietta Lanfair of Norwich; brothers and sisters, Elsie Voorhis, Glen Lanfair and wife, Shirley, Arthur Lanfair and wife, Nancy, Robert Lanfair and wife, Sharon, Raymond Lanfair and wife, Gail, all of Norwich, and Melvin Lanfair and wife, Linda, of Fla. along with many nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his father, Lynn Lanfair.
A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chenango Area Hospice.
