Paul Kennedy


NORWICH – Paul R. Kennedy, formerly of Norwich, passed away on Saturday, July 05, 2008 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford.
Born in Wellsboro, PA on July 2, 1931, Paul was the son of Raymond A. and Wilda B. (Blackwell) Kennedy of Wellsboro. Paul attended Wellsboro schools, graduating from Wellsboro Senior High School in 1949. He then worked on the family farm until he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War as a ground maintenance technician on B-29 and B-36 aircraft. He served in Puerto Rico and also in Roswell, NM. On leaving the military, Paul came to Norwich and worked for the Sisson Farm, then joined TACO in Sherburne as a technician. He later worked for GLA in Norwich, retiring from B.F. Goodrich in 1993.
On May 25, 1957 Paul married Mary A. Rotundo at St. Bartholomew’s in Norwich. She died December 27, 2005. Paul is survived by one son, Thomas and his partner Alan Warburton of Towanda, PA; a brother, Mahlon Kennedy of Wellsboro, PA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ward and Francis Kennedy.
Paul was a member of the American Legion post in Norwich.
Services for Paul will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2005 at the Wilson Funeral Home, Norwich. Rev. Joseph Connolly, pastor of the United Church of Christ First Congregational, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
