Joseph Mirabito


NORWICH – Funeral services for Joseph Mirabito were held on Tuesday at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, celebrated a Mass of Resurrection.
Mass began with Joe’s son, Sam, and his wife, Mary, as well as grandchildren, Julie Douglass and Mark and Mary Mirabito, placing the baptismal pall upon the casket. Sam then placed Joe’s crucifix, rosary and prayer book on the pall. Julie and Mark proclaimed the old and new testament readings and Mary read the Prayer of the Faithful. Joe’s sister, Teeni Mirabito and niece and nephew, Nick and JoAnn Testani, presented the offertory gifts. Joe’s niece, Cheryl Mirabito, served as Eucharistic Minister and Sam spoke in remembrance of his dad. Susan Ticknor was the organist and Bertha DeFonzo was the soloist. George Zieno was the altar server assisted by Rene Fahey, seminarian.
Burial took place in St. Paul’s Cemetery with Father Cunningham offering the committal prayers. The casket bearers were Fred, Denny, Mark, Tom and Rich Mirabito and Michael Gieryic.
On Monday afternoon, at the Wilson Funeral Home, Parish Minister Mary Ann Bodiot led the family in the recitation of the rosary.
The arrangements were by the Wilson Funeral Home.
