OXFORD – Bernice D. Cunningham, age 87, formerly of Oxford and Palm Harbor, Fla., passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a brief illness.
Bernice was born May 23, 1921 in Oxford, a daughter of the late Floyd Fleming and Nettie Hamilton Fleming. On October 17, 1935, she was united in marriage to Raymond Cunningham and he passed away on March 24, 2007.
She was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Paul Crouch of Oxford, and she also worked for GTE - Contel until her retirement. She and her husband, Raymond, moved to Johnstown in 2002.
Survivors include one daughter Marge Martin of Gloversville; grandsons Donald and wife, Julie Martin, of Perth, Richard and his wife Andrea Friedman, of Winter Haven, Fla.; granddaughters Debra Hawley of Gloversville, Donna and husband Bill Jackson of Winter Haven, Fla.; great-grandchildren Kim, Paul, Stephanie, Stacey, Hunter, Riley, Gabrielle, Melanie, Madison, and Austin, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Bernice was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Friedman, and a grandson, David Friedman.
Private services will be conducted at the Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
