OXFORD – Virginia M. “Ginny” Smith, 66, of Oxford, passed away Saturday evening, June 21, 2008, in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
Ginny was born in Oct. of 1941 in Norwich, the daughter of Ronald and Jessie Whaley Sayles Sr. She grew up in the Oxford area and was a graduate of Oxford Schools. While raising her children, Ginny chose to stay at home, and once they were on there own, decided to re-enter the work force. She first worked for the Norwich Shoe Co. and then Champion Products. At the age of 50, realizing she wanted to do more, Ginny entered Morrisville College, earned her 2-year degree in Business Management and Medical, then gained employment with Dr. Henry Hemsley with whom she worked for 10 years. She will be remembered as a kind and polite woman who always gave to others without expecting anything in return.
