Richard Hofmann


OXFORD – Richard F. Hofmann, 69, of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2008 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. 
He was born on December 21, 1938 in Oxford the son of the late Frank and Mary (Knoll) Hofmann. On July 21, 1979 he married the former Sallie Dennison, who survives.
Besides his wife, Sallie of Oxford he is survived by his children, Stephen and Deborah Vance of Sidney, Debra and James Christence of Oneonta, Thomas and Charmaine Lord of Oxford, Tammy and Jeff Wackford of Oxford, Tawnya and Craig Murwin of Oxford, Wendy Hofmann of Oxford, Rich and Lori Hofmann of Bainbridge, and Debbie Hofmann of Norwich; his brother, Frank and Linda Hofmann of Oxford; his sister, Ann and Curt Ashman of Dryden.  Many grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Dick was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School.  He was a dairy farmer for his entire life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church, Sidney with the Rev. Gordon Polenz celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home Inc., 21 Main St., Oxford, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department Emergency Squad or the Oxford Fire Department.
