Vincent J. Palmere


NORWICH – Vincent J. Palmere, 59, of Norwich, passed away Wednesday morning, May 21, 2008 at the Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.
Vincent was born in January of 1949 in Brooklyn, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Romano) Palmere. He attended school in Long Island and on Jan. 12, 1969, in Massapequa, NY, he married Patricia Walters. While living downstate, he was employed by the Town of Hempstead as a Bay Constable and in July 1988 moved to the Norwich area where he continued to make his home.
Vincent’s family was the center of his life. They enjoyed many great times together hunting, enjoying the animals and nature around the area. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a talented carpenter, building many items over the years. A collector of many items, he had a special passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and would collect anything pertaining to his Harley’s. Vincent’s favorite holiday was Christmas. According to his wife and children he would make the day last as long as possible with many “special treats.”
Vincent is survived by his wife Patricia of Norwich, his children and their spouses; Jodi and Rick Mihalik of North Carolina, Tami and Michael Mullin of Virginia, Janice and John Monroe, Joseph and Julie Palmere and Vincent and Nellene Palmere, all of Norwich; his 11 grandchildren, Patricia Grace, Michael, Katie, Matthew, Christopher, Joseph, Laura, Cheryl, Madison, Caleb and Isabella. Also surviving is his brother and sister-in-law Peter and Lisa Palmere of Massachusetts and their children Dylan, Benjamin, Joshua, Ava and Lyla.
A Mass of Resurrection for Vincent will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Catholic Church. The Reverend Douglas Cunningham, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
