Betty Dungey


EARLVILLE – Betty J. Dungey, 81, of Esat Main St., passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
She was born in Smyrna on Sept. 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth VanLoan Holcomb, and received her education in local schools. She had been married to Albert “Frank” Dungey at one time. He since has passed away. Betty was a cook at the Sherburne Inn and for 45 years at the Pratt Newton Home in Sherburne until her retirement in 1999. Betty was a loving and devoted mother, who did an amazing job raising her children on her own. She also enjoyed collecting bells.
Surviving are her children: Margaret and Roger Palmer of Earlville; Mary and Don Doing of Coventry; Linda Dungey of Sherburne; Nancy Dungey of Earlville; Vanessa and Mark Pullman of Sloansville; Richard and Shelly Dungey of Sherburne; a daughter-in-law Sandy Dungey of Sherburne; a brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Sally Holcomb of Randallsville; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Charles E. “Chuck” Dungey; Donald G. Dungey, Sr.; four sisters, Genevieve Newman, Catherine Parker, Kathleen Taranto and Margaret Costantini; three brothers, George Holcomb, Herbert and Roy Come; a grandson, Donald G. Dungey, Jr.; and great-grandson Ethan Edward Pullman, infant son of Marcy Pullman and Edward Conrow II, who became one of God’s Little Angels on Sunday, May 18, 2008.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 5 Preston St., Earlville.
Interment will be in the Willcox Cemetery, Earlville (Town of Smyrna).
Friends are invited and may call Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
