Nettie Quinn


NORWICH – Nettie M. Quinn, 88, life-long Norwich resident, passed away late Saturday night, May 10, 2008 at her home in Norwich, with her family at her side.
Born in Plymouth in January of 1920, Nettie was the daughter of Clifford H. and Angeline (Pierce) Mundy. She was raised in this area, graduating from the Norwich High School with the Class of 1938. Nettie married Richard C. Quinn, Sr., in DeRuyter on July 6, 1941, and from that time on devoted herself to her home and her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother whose favorite pastime was fishing with her husband Dick at Lake Ludlow, and no one could out-fish Nettie, who seemed to have a special talent with the fishing pole.
Nettie is survived by her children: Colleen A. Brown, and Kathleen Stone and husband Robert, all of Norwich; Richard C. Quinn, Jr. and wife Elaine Peck of Plymouth; and Michael A. Quinn of Norwich. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Billy Brown and wife Cynthia of Norwich, Patrick Brown and wife June of Oxford, David Quinn of Norwich, Christina Quinn and fiancé Timothy Husvar Jr. of Saratoga, Debra Quinn of Charlotte, N.C., Robert Stone III of Norwich, and Renee Kernan and husband Thomas of Ballston Lake; by her great grandchildren: Anthony, Gage, Jacob, William, Benjamin, Dominic, Colin, Sydney, Austin, Robby, and Jack; her great great grandson, Connor; and her sister-in-law, Pearl Mundy.
Nettie was predeceased by her husband, Dick, on Feb. 14, 1994; by her sister, Ruth Maragno; her brothers, Robert and Benjamin Mundy; and her sister-in-law, Helen Quinn.
A Mass of Resurrection for Nettie will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from St. Paul’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Marian Chapel at St. Paul’s on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.
