Ronald Miles Sr.


NORWICH – Ronald S. Miles Sr., 79, of Norwich, passed away on May 4, 2008 at his home with his family at his side. 
He was born on May 17, 1928 in Guilford the son of the late William and Helen (Stafford) Miles. On July 3, 1971 he married Jan Owen, who survives.
Besides his wife, Jan, he is survived by his children, Susan Miles- Livingston of Tallahassee, Fla., Ron Miles, Jr. of Norwich, Gregg and Trudy Huggins of Norwich, Lisa and Martin Colabelli of Norwich, and Kevin and Shelly Miles of Sherburne; his sisters and brothers in law, Joan and David Harvey of Sherburne, Barbara Miles of Port Matilda, Pa., and Carolyn and Mel Predmore of Sherburne; his grandchildren, April Livingston, Chad Burlison, Ashley Colabelli, Hailey Colabelli, Corey Huggins, Nicholas Miles, and Paul Livingston; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. He is also survived by his second wife, Irene Rifanburg Burlison and her children. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Miles; his sisters, Joyce Miles McGowan, and Madeleine (Maizie) Bradt; and his best buddies, Millie and Rambo.
Ron loved horses, especially Belgian’s and he belonged to the NYS Draft Horse Assn. He had worked for Crane Corp., the WRC Home and retired from Victory Markets as a foreman in the produce department. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working for I.L. Richer, Country Max and Evergreen with their flowers.  He enjoyed bowling and gardening. He attended Oxford Academy and Central School and served in the U.S. Navy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with the Rev. Allen C. Lang, pastor of the United Church of Oxford officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
