Betty Christison


NORTH NORWICH – Betty Jane Crandall Christison, 84, a 60-year resident of North Norwich, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at her home.
The daughter of Lewis and Mary (Woodard) Crandall, Betty was born in Norwich in October of 1923. She completed her schooling in the North Norwich and Norwich schools before moving to Schenectady to take a job with General Electric. While living in Schenectady, Betty met her future husband, Wilbert “Chris” Christison, and they were united in marriage in Schenectady on Jan.. 25, 1943. In 1948, Betty and Chris moved to North Norwich to make their home, remaining there through the remainder of their years. During her time in this area, Betty was employed by GLA for nine years, and also volunteered as a nurses’ aide at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Betty is survived by her sisters-in-law: Shirley Crandall of North Norwich and Mildred Doxey of Florida; and by her nephews: Tim Crandall and wife Kathy of Norwich, Jim Crandall and wife Joann of North Norwich, Bob Cook and wife Marcia of Florida, and George, Paul and Alan Doxey. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Chris Christison, in 1996, and by her brother, Lewis Crandall, in 1981.
Graveside services for Betty will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday from the North Norwich Cemetery. The Rev. James Collins will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
