Peter Pieper

NORWICH – Peter J. Pieper, age 77, born Aug. 1, 1930, formerly of Williamsville, East Aurora, Norwich and Hamilton, died in the Masonic Care Community surrounded by his family on Friday, March 21, 2008.
He was the husband of Margherita, and father of Peggy O’Connor (Kevin).  He was predeceased by his daughter, Patty Bessey (Jeff).  He was the grandfather of Peter Bessey (Sue), Megan Bessey, Jamie Bolles and Kellie Bolles, and brother of Dolores Kessler (Joseph) and predeceased by his brother, Emil Pieper (Gin). Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Peter owned and operated Pieper Travel Bureau, Inc. in Buffalo for 50 years, retiring in 1998.  He was a member of the Masonic Master Builder Lodge Kenmore, Zion Lodge in Orchard Park and the Hamilton Rotary.  He was also a former member of the Buffalo Rotary, Buffalo Executives Association (BEA), Buffalo Harley Owners Group and Cornel Flying Club.
Peter had a passion  for air travel and in the early 1950s took his maiden voyage in a J3 Cub.  When Peter  was not focusing his attention on the sky, he was covering the U.S. roadways and attending such events as the 100th Anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on his Harley Davidson Ultra Classic. Peter’s honesty and values were expressed in every aspect of his life.  Those who knew him respected him highly as an intellectual and truly genuine soul. Peter’s matter-of-fact ways and simple state of being are uncommon in these days.  For these and many other reasons, he will be greatly missed.
Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heritage Farm (for the developmentally disabled), 3599 State Route 46, Bouckville, NY  13310.
