Nichlaus Herrick


McDONOUGH – Nichlaus E. Herrick, 65, fought a courageous battle with cancer for 5 years. He has lived his last years to watch his grandkids race. The sun rose and set on his grandchildren.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1943 in Bainbridge the son of Richard W. Herrick and Juanita H. Smith Herrick. On March 15, 1963 in McDonough, he married Joanne B. Brewer.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne of McDonough; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Wendy Herrick and their children, Dalton and Darci of McDonough; his father, Richard Herrick, and brothers Chris and wife Arlene of South Carolina, Scott and friend Linda of Norwich, brothers-in-law, Gilbert and Donna Brewer and Bruce Brewer, sisters-in-law, Bonnie Brewer, Kitty Brewer, Betsey Brewer, JoAnn Brewer and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Juanita, and brother Richard and his brothers-in-law, Dale, Steven, Fred and Larry.
Nick was a skilled machinist, last working at Unison Industries. Nick retired early to open Herrick Machine and Tool Co. in McDonough with his son, Todd.  He served on the McDonough Town Board, the Review Committee and as Town of McDonough Assessor. He loved to watch his grandchildren race microds and microsprints. He especially enjoyed going with his nephew Abe Brewer to watch the races. He enjoyed woodworking and making many baby cradles. 
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.,Tuesday at 21 Main St., Oxford. Interment will be in Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
