Carolyn Fierro


NORWICH – Carolyn C. Fierro, 66, a resident of Brookwood Drive, Oswego, passed away Feb. 26, 2008 at University Hospital, Syracuse.
Born in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Glen and Helen (Sharpe) Collier.
She was a graduate of Norwich High School in 1959 and Geneseo College in 1962 and received her Master’s Degree of Education at Oswego State.
She went on to teach at Hornell and Utica School Districts before settling down in Oswego with her husband Charles Fierro, whom she married in 1963. She taught in the Oswego School District and retired as a Fifth Grade Teacher from Leighton Elementary School.
Carolyn was involved in Brownie and Girls Scouts and the Retired Teacher’s Association.
She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen (Roy) Bailey of Chittenango, and Tricia (Scott) Lupini of Oriskany; a son, Mark (MaryBeth) Fierro of Oswego; three sisters, Colleen Jansen of Fishers, Indiana; Elaine O’Haver of Overland Park, Kansas; Connie Peer of Oswego; seven grandchildren, Noah Lupini, Pauge Lupini, Katie Fierro, William Bailey, Owen Bailey, Mia Fierro and Michael Fierro.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1996 and a brother, Glen Collier of Warwick, RI in 2003.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church. Burial in All-Saint’s Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
