Alice Hardman


NORWICH – Alice A. Hardman, 89, of Norwich, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2008, at the Chenango Valley Home where she had most recently made her home.
Alice was born in July of 1918 in Plymouth, Mass., the daughter of Henry and Aurissa Cooper Hall. She moved to Brooklyn in 1930 where she worked as a dental assistant following high school. On Oct. 17, 1940, in Brooklyn, she married Douglas Lloyd Hardman, who passed away in July of 2004. Alice and Lloyd relocated to Blauvelt in Rockland County in 1962, remaining there until 1997 when they moved to Norwich.
Alice is survived by her children and their spouses, Karen Lynn and Robert Kirkby of Norwich and Douglas Bruce and Georgina Hardman of Jackson, N.J.; her grandchildren, Jennifer L. Tavares, Lisa M. Babcock, Christopher VanDorpe, and Ian Van Dorpe; and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Anne Hardman.
Funeral services for Alice will be held at 7 p.m. Monday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Hale, pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
