Mariam Adams


BAINBRIDGE – Mariam S. Adams, 92, formerly of the Sidney, Bainbridge, and Norwich areas passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008 at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta. 
Mariam was born Oct. 7, 1915 in Lincolnville, Pa. Mariam was the daughter of Rev. Dean Marvin and Reba Mae (Lincoln) Sutton. She graduated from Sidney High School, and attended Albany Secretarial School. Mariam was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church of Norwich and a former member of the Bainbridge Baptist Church Congregation.  She also had been active in Bainbridge and Pamona Chapters of the NY State Grange, and Norwich Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #367. Mariam greatly enjoyed gardening and music.  She was a longtime resident of Sidney Skilled Nursing until their closing, and was then transferred to Chase Memorial Nursing Home, New Berlin. 
Mariam is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: David and Melody Adams of Norwich; two daughters and a son-in-law: Sarah Mott of Bainbridge and Connie and David Emerson of Deposit; granddaughter Barbara Lamoree and her daughters Stephanie and Amanda Lamoree; granddaughter Heather and her husband Timothy France and their daughter Jennifer France; sister-in-law Juna Richards and her family; niece Nancy and husband Andy Timberlake; niece Reba and husband Fred Worman; nephew Harvey Sutton.
She was predeceased by son-in-law, David Mott; a brother, Harvey Sutton; two sisters Ruth Watson and Florence Sutton; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Watson.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main Street Sidney. Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 6:30 p.m. 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with Rev. Gary Folz officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Gideon’s International PO Box 140800 Nashville, TN 37214.
