Loretta Frank


OXFORD – Loretta M. Frank, 93 of County Road 27, Oxford passed away on July 23, 2006 at her home. 
She was born on June 17, 1913 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen (Jerome) Mertz. On Sept. 2, 1931 she married Clifford Frank, who passed away on July 25, 1977.
She is survived by her children, Robert and Ronnie Frank of Oxford, Clifford and Elaine Frank of Norwich, Carolyn Broderick of Rochester and Thomas and Sharon Frank of Norwich; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Alta Mertz of Sidney, Jerome Mertz of Sidney, and George and Madeline Mertz of Bainbridge; her sisters and brothers in law, Veronica and Charles Shupperd of Sidney, Ellen Hogan of Sidney, Theresa and Richard Horton of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Augusta and Hubert Shifflett of Sidney. Thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive. Her sons, Richard Frank and Vincent James Frank and her brothers, Joseph Mertz and Frederick Mertz, predeceased her.
 She was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church of Oxford and a former member of the Altar-Rosary Society. She and her husband operated their family farm for many years on County Road 27. She enjoyed gardening and birds.
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Church, Oxford with the Rev. Thomas Ward, celebrating the Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
 Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department Emergency Squad.
