Albert Wilcox


 SHERBURNE – Albert Wilcox, 72, of State Highway 80, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at his home.
He was born May 31, 1935 in Sherburne, a son of Clifford and Claudine Winton Wilcox and received his education in local schools. In September 1956, Albert married Shirley Ann McHenry in Columbus. She predeceased him on March 26, 2003. Albert had worked for T.A.C.O. in Sherburne for 21 years, and then for the Town of Sherburne Highway Department until his retirement. Following that, he worked part-time for Napa in Sherburne. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was also a welder and fabricator who created many pieces of metalwork.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Glenn Hamilton of Sherburne; a son, Barry Wilcox of Wilmington, N.C.; his mother-in-law, Leona McHenry of Sherburne; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Fred Dyer, Joyce Mettler, Janice and Don Flessa, Joan and Tom Knickerbocker, Jane and Dave Mandore; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Lisa Wilcox; Clifford “Butch” and Patricia Wilcox, and a sister-in-law, Marie Wilcox. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Heather, Nicholas and Christopher Wilcox; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, a sister, Bev, a brother, Claude, and two grandsons, Scott and Matthew Wilcox.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday from the Assembly of God Church, 97 Silver St., Norwich.
Interment will be private.
There will be no calling hours.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
