Herman Hisert


NORWICH – Herman Hisert, 76, formerly of Cincinnatus, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 in the Valley View Nursing Home of Norwich, where he had made his home for the past several years.
The son of Harry and Charlotte (Wheeler) Hisert, Herman was born in April of 1931 in Oaksville. Growing up in the New Berlin and Norwich areas, he attended those local schools. Herman worked for a brief time in his younger days for McGregor’s Sawmill in Smyrna, then moved out west where he spent most of his adult years. He worked for a time in a steel mill in Bentonville, Ark., and later resided in Oklahoma City. He had returned to New York State some 10-12 years ago, living in Cincinnatus before relocating to Norwich.
Herman is survived by his sister, Clara Hodge, and her husband Leslie of Sherburne, and their adult children and spouses.
Graveside services for Herman will be held in the spring from the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
