Charlotte Jackson

NORWICH – Charlotte K “C.J.” Jackson, 52, of Norwich, passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2008 at her home, following a long illness.
The daughter of Julian and Delia (Shepard) MacLaury, C.J. was born in Norwich in February of 1955. She attended and graduated from the South Otselic schools, and worked for 17 years at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home. On Sept. 26, 1976, in Pitcher, she married Thomas C. Jackson. C.J. was a good and loving woman, and a very caring mother and grandmother. A good cook with a special talent for apple pie, she never let anyone go hungry around her home. In quiet moments, she enjoyed crocheting, liked flowers, and was generally fun to be with. She was also a TV fan who could watch the same movie over again and still jump when the going got scary. One of the things she inherited from her mother was her “own dictionary,” a way of referring to things by her own words, which would always confuse newcomers to her world.
C.J. is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Thomas C. Jackson, and her children, Andrew Jackson and wife Heather, and Amanda Jackson and fiancé Russell Button, all of Norwich. She is also survived by her sisters: Dorothy Eltz and husband Russell of Cincinnatus, Linda Marris of Norwich, Mary Cruz of Cortland, Judy Garbrick and husband LeRoy of Marathon, and Terry Ryder and husband Preston of Georgia; her brothers: Eugene MacLaury and wife Kathy of Jordon, Rodney MacLaury of Norwich, Randy MacLaury of Freeville, and Daniel MacLaury and wife Andrea of Pharsalia; six grandchildren: Haleigh, Chandler, Annaleise, and Dannica Jackson, and Richard and Hunter Button; her mother-in-law, Marjorie Jackson; a slew of nieces and nephews; and her companion of many years, her dog Bear. C.J. was predeceased by her infant brother, Marvin, in 1959; and by her grandson, Keegan Jackson.
Funeral services for C.J. will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in the Deer Pond Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Please consider memorial contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, New York 13815.
