Barry Scott

NORWICH – Barry Lee Scott, 56, long-time resident of the King Settlement Road in Norwich, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, Jan. 18, 2008, at his home.
Born in Afton in August of 1951, Barry was the son of James T. and Audrey L. (Rose) Scott. In his youth he worked on the Tuttle Farm in the Afton/Bainbridge area. Barry was a 1969 graduate of the Afton High School, after which he furthered his education at Corlland State. Following a short employment with the Borden Company in Bainbridge, Barry began his career with Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals in 1974, where he was currently working as a senior scientist/engineer. He was known to be a good worker and was well liked, a good friend to all. To his parents, he was an amazing son, and his daughter Kristie was the “essence of his joy.” The special bond they shared was strengthened daily by the little things he did such as making happy faces with the mustard on her sandwiches or packing notes with her school lunches. He sometimes referred to himself as “Mr. Mom,” and was always there if Kristie needed him. A loving man and natural care-giver, he always took care of everyone else first.
Barry is survived by his daughter, Kristie Leigh Scott and her fiancé Billy Lein of Norwich; his parents, James and Audrey Scott of Nineveh; his brother, Gregg Scott of Afton; Kristie’s mom and step-dad, Janet and Donald Loudon of Greene; and Kristie’s half-brother, Cory Loudon of Greene. He is also survived by two first cousins, Walter Rose and David Sisson, and several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased last year by his sister, Diane S. Thomas.
Funeral services for Barry will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Emrys Tyler, pastor of the Nineveh Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Interment will be at a later date in the Nineveh Cemetery. Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Please consider memorial contributions to the Chenango County SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY 13815.
