PITTSFIELD – Charles H. Grant, 75, of Pittsfield, passed away Monday, July 17, 2006 in Cooperstown.
He was born April 3, 1931 in Pittsfield, a son of Charles & Deloris (LaMora) Grant. On Aug. 17, 1951, Charles married Bernice B. Cole. She predeceased him on July 2, 1992.
Charles spent his childhood years in Pittsfield, attending the New Berlin Central School. He was a supervisor for Simmons Precision of Norwich for 27 years. Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 - 1954. He enjoyed being “outdoors.” He also loved playing his guitar with fellow friends and musicians, entertaining everyone who listened.
Charles is survived by his children, Charles & Devere Grant of Tampa, Fla., Steven & Linda Grant of Pittsfield, Mike & Linda Grant of New Berlin, Sue & Graeme Stewart of Saugerties, Don & Tammy Grant of Pittsfield, Scott & Cindy Grant of Pittsfield and Marty & Amy Grant of Pittsfield; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his loving companion, Dolores Bourn; two brothers, Louis & Chris Grant of Elkart, Ind. and Tom & Patricia Grant of Mt. Upton; one sister, Loretta & Charles Cornell of Pittsfield along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, New Berlin. Father Francis Case will officiate. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.
