Miriam Bartle


OXFORD – Miriam E. Bartle, 87, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 10, 2008. 
She was born on Feb. 14, 1920 in Greenwich, the daughter of the late Walter and Fannie (Barber) Burdick.  On June 11, 1938 she married Raymond Bartle, who died on June 2, 1996.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Linda Bartle of Oxford, and Neil and Linda Bartle of Oxford; her grandchildren, Tom Bartle of Raleigh, N.C., Heather and Michael Ferrarese of Oxford, Krista Bartle and Brandon Downey of Oxford,  Jared Bartle of Oxford, and Ashley Bartle of  Boston, Mass.; her great granddaughter, Jillian Ferrarese of Oxford. She was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Art and Helen Hanson, Guy and Janet McClaughry, and Court and Nancy Thomas.
She was a long time member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and the Harmony Circle of the church. She was a member of the Oxford Home Bureau.  She worked at Oxford Academy and Central School for a short time and then worked for Dr. Mat Boname for 25 years, while raising two sons.  She and her husband spent their summers at Lake Steere since 1950. She loved her family and home very much. She was always there when her family needed her. She enjoyed her grandchildren and their successes. She was a fantastic friend, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was deeply loved and will be missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Oxford United Methodist Church with her pastor, Rev. John Martin, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford United Methodist Church.
