NORWICH – David R. Crain, 76, of County Rt. 32, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford.
He was born Feb. 22, 1931 in Fayetteville, a son of George H. and Wilhelmina Altman Crain and received his education in Sherburne schools. Dave enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge in 1954, he attended the Heavy Equipment School in Williamsport, Pa. He was a licensed crane operator who had worked for several major construction companies until retiring in 1993. He was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter.
Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, George and Sharon Crain of Smyrna; nephew, Warren Crain of Tacoma, Wash.; step-son, Steve Miller of Norwich; three step-daughters, Pam Schwartz of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nancy Fagnon and Judy Notz, both of Hornell.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
