William Guinn


NORWICH – William F. Guinn, 73, life-long Norwich resident, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 31, 2007 in the University Hospital of Syracuse.
Born in Aug. of 1934, the son of Ralph and Jessie (Keplinger) Guinn, Bill was a 1954 graduate of the Norwich High School. He spent a short time in the U.S. Army, returned to Norwich, and went to work for the Norwich Pharmacal Company. Bill was born to be a farmer, and in 1958 he purchased his farm which he owned and operated for 42 years before turning the reins over to his son. In conjunction with the daily operation of the farm, Bill was employed for 25 years as a plumber by Plumber’s Local #112 out of Binghamton, working on various projects throughout New York State including the addition to Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, the Sherburne-Earlville School, and Sheffield’s. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Norwich, enjoyed a good game of cards, and adored his grandchildren.
On Dec. 8, 1962, Bill married Charlotte Law. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlotte Guinn of Norwich; his children, Michael Guinn of Norwich and daughter Melissa Carnrike and husband Ted of Holt, Pa.; by his sisters: Anna Mae Quincy, Donna Singer and husband Russell, and Bessie Brown, all of Norwich; and his brothers: James Guinn and wife Linda, and Vernon Guinn and wife Ginny, all of Norwich; Robert Carl Guinn and wife Shirley of Ocala, Fla.; and Roy Guinn and wife Phyllis of Cincinnatus. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Megan, Keith, and Jared Carnrike; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Rice of Oxford, and nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Fred Rice and William Quincy.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Susan Polizzi, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
