NORWICH – Norwich firefighters prevented the spread of outdoor fire into a nearby wooded area in the City of Norwich Thursday after workers at the property left the flames unattended.

Norwich fire crews responded to an out of control outdoor fire at 101 Borden Avenue at 12:54 p.m. Thursday, November 5. Firefighters used a hose to extinguish burning wood and material, containing the fire to a debris pile and halting the flames from spreading.

Norwich Fire Department Captain Robert Boellmann credited the crews’ quick response with containing the fire.

“Their quick response and actions helped contain the fire and avoid a potentially larger incident,” Boellmann said.
