OXFORD — The Oxford Blackhawks boys’ soccer team hosted the second round of the Section IV, Class C tournament game as the third seed taking on sixth seeded Southern Cayuga. In a very aggressive and physical game, Oxford fell 3-2 due to a late penalty kick by the Falcons.

Southern Cayuga scored early on with a goal in the opening five minutes and a penalty kick to go up 2-0. Oxford, who is used to being down and fighting their way back, was unable to do just that because they were under a lot of pressure. However, with eight minutes remaining, they got a special goal by Gordon Smith. Gordon scored his 34th goal of the season, which is the most in Oxford history, off a pass from Haven Bourn. Congratulations, Gordon.

Oxford was down 2-1 at the half and had chances to tie the game up early in the second half. Dawson Viele had a penalty kick but it was blocked by the goalkeeper. With seven minutes remaining, Paxton LaMonica earned a pk and it was successful to tie the game up. However, Southern Cayuga got a pk with three minutes remaining to regain the lead and kept it.

Oxford finished the 2026 season with a 12-3 record. Good season, Oxford and best of luck to the seniors.
