ELMIRA — The Oxford Blackhawks girls’ soccer team earned the number 13th seed in the Section IV, Class C tournament, where they hit the road to play number four Elmira Notre Dame. Oxford fell 5-2, ending their season but played with them for the most part.

Raine Rovente and Paige Rickard both scored for the Blackhawks with assists by Ahnalee Kappauf and Emily Williams. Jenna Denz made 10 saves in net.

“As coaches, we couldn’t be prouder of how this team played. From the first whistle to the final buzzer, the girls hustled with everything they had, communicating beautifully and truly trusting one another on the field,” Coach Rachel Seiler said. “While the season didn’t bring the exact record we hoped for, I enjoyed the ride. I am incredibly proud of who these players have become, both as athletes and as young women. We are going to miss the seniors next year. Having coached some of them for the last five seasons, witnessing their tremendous growth has been one of our coaching staff’s greatest rewards. We can’t wait to start again next fall.”
