OXFORD — The Oxford Blackhawks and the Greene Trojans boys’ soccer teams battled on Tuesday night with the MAC Championship game on the line. Oxford, who won the MAC Championship in 2024, defeated Greene in the regular season, but it was anyone’s game for the MAC Semifinals.
Greene advanced to the Championship game with a 3-1 victory. The last time Greene played in the MAC championship game was dating back to 2021 against Bainbridge-Guilford. This time, they will face a tough Unatego/Franklin team, who they look to get revenge on from a 4-2 loss at home in the regular season.
Gavin Strantz had a day for Greene with two goals to help them capture the victory. Gavin Ely scored the other goal off an assist from Judd Dutcher. Jackson Roth made three saves in net in the win.
Oxford scored its lone goal from Gordon Smith off an assist by Dawson Viele. Gaven Dibble made seven saves in net.
Greene faces Unatego/Franklin on Saturday in the MAC Championship game at 2:30 p.m. at The Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta. Oxford will host Delhi in the MAC Consolation game.
