NORWICH — The Norwich Purple Tornado boys’ soccer team took on Johnson City on Thursday night, where they won in shutout fashion 4-0. After a scoreless first half, Norwich pumped out four goals and made great adjustments.

Norwich’s Wyeth Stafford led the scoring with a hat trick, where he scored on two of three direct kicks. James Sprague scored the other goal and Jay Conant picked up an assist in the win.

Norwich made adjustments at halftime with their goalkeepers. Pierce Sherman, who had four saves in the first half, went to the field and Freshman Connor Voss entered the net.

Coach Michael Oberg said it was a good adjustment because Sherman’s speed was what Norwich needed to break through. He was also impressed with Voss, who made two saves in goal.

Norwich (4-8-1) plays in its third straight game, taking on Oneonta for senior night this evening at 7 p.m.
