NORWICH — On Tuesday, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls’ swim team faced off against Chenango Valley at Norwich High School. The final score was Chenango Valley 77 to Norwich’s 46 but the Norwich girls continue to improve on their times in every meet and stay strong in the water.
Jillian Petrie took second in the 200 free with a time of 2:31.12 while Junior Raeley Patterson came in fourth place with a new personal best time of 2:54.75.
Petrie and Patterson also swam in the 100 free where Petrie finished fourth with a time of 1:09.38 with Patterson behind her in fifth with a time of 1:22.64.
Alexandra Shtrauch came in second in the 50 free with a time of 28.79 seconds, behind the leader’s 28.63. Senior Brynn Meek took fifth in the event with a time of 36.99 seconds. Meek also swam in the 100 back, where she finished second with a time of 1:30.46.
Shtrauch won the 100 butterfly event, earning a new personal best time of 1:22.90.
Kaelyn Conant took second in the 500 free with a new best time of 6:21.21 and won the 100 breaststroke with the fastest time of 1:25.68.
Shtrauch, Petrie, Conant, and Patterson came in second in the 200 free relay with a time of 2:07.24.
Meek, Shtrauch, Petrie, and Conant won the 400 free relay with a time of 4:46.68.
Norwich heads to Sus Valley on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
