OXFORD- When tomatoes, corn, peppers, beans and eggplant all show up on vendors tables at the  Oxford Farmers’  Market, we know it’s ratatouille time. It’s the time for every summer favorite, all at once.  

This week is one of those weeks, with vendors offering a huge variety of late-summer  locally-grown and fresh-picked vegetables and fruits, perfect for making ratatouille and soups, for grilling and roasting, for slicing into a colorful salad or just eating without any preparation at all: juicy tomatoes, crisp green beans, flavorful carrots, tender new potatoes, sweet corn, and peppers of all colors and heats, and so much more.  This is the time of year when we want summer to slow down enough so that we can bottle and can and freeze all this goodness to be enjoyed for the rest of the year. But gorging on it in the moment works, too.

In addition to these wonderful seasonal items, vendors this week will also have beautiful mushrooms, locally raised and processed beef, lamb pork and chicken, gorgeous cut flowers and potted plants; chicken, duck and turkey eggs;  a wide range of milk, cheese, butter, and other dairy products;  breads and other fresh baked goods; fudges, and jams; delicious hot prepared foods; local hard ciders; maple syrup and honey; hand-made healthy treats for dogs, hand-made soaps, lotions and balms; and items for the kitchen and home.
