NORWICH - On Monday, August 3, during World Breastfeeding Week, DCMO BOCES was presented with the Breastfeeding-Friendly Business award during the 'Step Up to Breastfeeding' event held in East Park in Norwich. This community resource fair was sponsored by the Cortland County Community Action Program, Inc. (CAPCO).

A breastfeeding friendly workplace is one that welcomes lactating employees and visitors and proudly supports families’ infant feeding goals. This can be as simple as allowing employees to have flexible breaks and access to a private room for nursing or pumping. It is important to recognize that breastfeeding lowers healthcare costs, improves employee retention, and fosters a healthier, more respectful, and more productive work environment. Breastfeeding friendly is the law. Businesses are required to provide hourly workers with time and space to pump or breastfeed during the workday.

The Breastfeeding Partners of Chenango County Coalition would like to recognize DCMO BOCES for supporting the efforts of breastfeeding families. Research shows that breastfeeding friendly workplaces benefit everyone. Thank you DCMO BOCES for supporting families and lactating mothers.
