SIDNEY - The Sidney Memorial Public Library is especially excited to announce that for the month of August, photographer Rick Bunting will have a collection of his photos on display in our Smart Community Room.

We would like to invite everyone to join us on Saturday, August 1, 2:00-4:00pm for the Reception. Introduction by Rick will be at 2:30pm. 50 Favorites: Photography By Rick Bunting on collaboration with Dan Harrington in The Smart Community Room. Nature lover, Rick Bunting once again shares his incredible knowledge and passion through his photos and experiences in the natural world.

He can take the smallest species and magnify them through his lens for everyone to appreciate to the maximum degree. Rich shares an amazing variety of birds and other wetland occupants through his photos with humor, respect and love. Rick taught in Bainbridge Central School for many years and is the lead singer in The Susquehanna String Band. This special photography exhibit will be on display through August during regular library hours.

We would like to welcome our new Library Assistant, Kim Skellie who will be working with our Youth Services Department.

Summer Family Events in August include, Dinosaur Wars on Thursday, August 6 at 6:00pm; Stuffed Animal Sleepover and the Movie, The Good Dinosaur will be held on Thursday, August 13 at 6:00pm

Jurassic Movie Time continues on Wednesday, August 5 at 5:30pm with Jurassic World: Dominion and Wednesday, August 12 featuring Jurassic World: Rebirth at 5:30pm.

End of Summer Reading Program will be held on Thursday, August 20, 5:00-6:00pm.

Friends of the Libraries will hold their A La Carte Booksales on Saturday, August 1 and 15, 10:30am-1:00pm in the main lobby of the library.

Book Club will meet on Tuesday, August 11 at 11:30am. The book Becoming Madam Secretary by Stephanie Dray will be the discussion book. Copies are available at the circulation desk.

Photography Club will meet on Monday, August 17 at 6:00pm in The Smart Community Room. The photography club with Rod Sutton and Mark Picone meets monthly. Amateurs and experienced alike are welcome.

Mahjong Club meets Mondays, 2:00-4:00pm in the Smart Community Room. This is a great opportunity to learn to play Mahjong.

We continue with our regular pre-school and school-age kids programs during the summer with the exception of Zoom Lego.

The Masonville Branch Library will be holding Family Bingo Night on Friday, August 7 at 6:00pm. All are welcome, come join us for snacks and prizes.
