OXFORD — The United Church of Oxford invites the community to join in celebrating its 50th Anniversary on Sunday, August 2, 2026, commemorating the 1976 merger of the Oxford Baptist Church and the First Congregational Church.

The anniversary celebration will begin with a 10:30 a.m. Worship Service at the Main Street Church, followed by a 11:45 a.m. luncheon at the Fort Hill Fellowship Hall. At 12:45 p.m., guests are invited to the Fort Hill Sanctuary for a community hymn sing and a special historical display highlighting the church's rich heritage.

Members of the congregation, along with community volunteers, have assembled an engaging collection of photographs, memorabilia, and historical displays that tell the story of the church's first 50 years. Visitors are encouraged to share their own memories and stories as part of this celebration of faith, fellowship, and service.

"This anniversary is an opportunity to honor the vision of those who brought two congregations together in 1976 and to celebrate the ministry and friendships that have flourished ever since," organizers said. "We look forward to welcoming everyone who has been part of our journey and those who would like to learn more about our church."

The celebration is open to the public. Former members, friends, neighbors, and all members of the community are warmly invited to attend.
