GREENE — The Town of Greene is pleased to announce increased property tax exemption benefits for eligible veterans, Cold War veterans, and senior citizens.

Veterans Property Tax Exemptions

Eligible veterans may receive the following exemptions from taxable property value.

Alternative veterans exemption benefits (RPTL §458-a) are available to qualifying veterans. They can receive up to $18,000 in property tax exemptions for wartime veterans, an additional up to $12,000 for combat veterans, and an additional up to $60,000 for veterans with a service-connected disability

Cold War Veterans Exemption benefits (RPTL §458-b) are available to qualifying veterans. They can receive up to 15% reduction in taxable assessed value up to $18,000, and an additional reduction up to $60,000 for Cold War veterans with a service-connected disability

Senior Citizens Partial Property Tax Exemption

Tax exemption benefits (RPTL 467) are available to qualifying seniors with annual income under $35,600.
